PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Kerry Munsey- Pri PrincipalWelcome to the Primary School at Kigali International Community School! I am so glad that you are exploring our school. KICS is a very special and unique community in which we foster a love for God, love for learning and love for others. Our students have many opportunities to experience and learn about God’s love and his truth through studying God’s word, having teachers and peers who exemplify Christ, and weekly chapel time. Students at KICS leave with every opportunity to be ambassadors for Christ wherever they go and to whomever they meet.

Primary students at KICS are engrossed in rigorous language and mathematics learning, along with exploring science and social studies concepts, all through a Biblical worldview. Students are provided with customized learning based on regular progress monitoring. Collaborating with their classmates through critical thinking and inquiry-based experiences ensures that students grow in their understanding of the world around them and beyond. Students also participate in physical education, the arts, technology, and languages. At KICS all students are encouraged and praised for taking great responsibility in their learning and discovering the blessing of doing all things as you are doing them for the Lord (Colossians 3:23). Students also have opportunities for various activities extending past the school day, which often are supported or led by their teachers.

At KICS, students are viewed as special creations of our Heavenly Father and are provided with opportunities to show care and love to each other and those around them. Our primary teachers are passionate about their students and support them academically, spiritually, and emotionally. Many of our teachers have been trained in the United States or the United Kingdom. Teachers have high expectations for all students, while creating a nurturing environment in which all students can take risks and be successful.

KICS is more than just a school, it is a family. We know that the most effective education is one in which students, families, and school staff are partners and work as a team. At KICS, we do just that! We have an amazing P.T.O and collaboration between school and home. We would love for you to join us and be part of our KICS family!

Blessings to you,

Ms. Munsey.

More about Ms. Munsey

Meet Ms Kerry Munsey– Image 1 of 5

Ms. Kerry Munsey is beyond excited to be joining the KICS family as primary principal.  Ms. Munsey grew up in a small town in Michigan and was blessed to come to the Lord at a young age. She always had a passion for children of all ages, serving at church as soon as she was able. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership which allowed her opportunities to serve in various parochial and public schools.

From 2004-2007 Ms. Munsey served as a second grade teacher at Vienna Christian School. It was in Vienna, Austria, where missions and serving the Lord full-time took root in her heart. She has been an assistant principal in a public school for the past two years, but that entire time her heart was aching for serving the Lord full time in an international, Christian school.

In the summer of 2019, Ms. Munsey came to Rwanda with a team from her church to train teachers for another organization. She quickly fell in love with the country and its people. Ms. Munsey is passionate about supporting teachers, students, and families. She is humbled to be part of such an amazing school and community and is touched by the loving welcome she has already received.
