Welcome to the Primary School at Kigali International Community School. It is incredibly important that these early years of education are filled with engaging learning experiences and social skill development, all in a safe and fun environment. We consider our primary students gifts from God and strive to support their growth in every way we can, making KICS a special place.
The Primary School (Pre-K – Grade 5) equips students in learning how to think, how to treat others and work together as a team, and who God is as shown through the Bible. Our program includes a strong foundation in literacy and math, exploration of our world through social studies and science, learning about Jesus through the Bible and chapel times, and experiences in music, art, physical education, French, Kinyarwanda, library, and technology. The atmosphere is nurturing and designed to set up all students for success. We have a trained and passionate group of educators who truly love learning and investing in each student’s potential.
“The vision of KICS is to impact the world for Christ by preparing servant leaders who choose character before career, wisdom beyond scholarship, service above self, and a lifestyle of participation over apathy.”
We believe that the success of a solid educational program rests in student ownership of their learning and partnership with parents and students. We encourage you to get involved and join the conversation! Our staff is here to help you find success in the Primary School.

Elise grew up on the “mission field.” Her parents were missionaries with the Church of the Nazarene. They served in a host of countries over the years in both South America and Southern Africa. Xai-Xai, Mozambique however, with its pristine beaches and cashew trees, is the place she considers to be her hometown. Elise is married to David Mosher, and they have three daughters in the secondary school at KICS. Elise has a B.A. in Christian Education, an M.A. in Elementary Education and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Leadership.
She taught in private and public schools in the United States and was also a children’s pastor before coming to serve in Rwanda. She has been teaching at KICS for three years and says, “Serving at a school like KICS has been a lifelong dream of mine. I am so proud of the way Christ is using this school to bless the nation of Rwanda and raise up future Christian leaders.” One of her favorite Bible verses is from the book of Zephaniah. It speaks of God’s goodness, love, and protection. “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 ESV. Elise loves the opportunities she is given here at KICS to share her faith and life story with our unique community.
