Kigali International Community School is a Christian, non-profit school, founded in 2006, which offers an educational program from kindergarten through grade 12. While prioritizing placement for children of missionaries and Christian cross-cultural workers, KICS affords children of all nationalities an education similar to that offered by schools in the USA. KICS is a candidate for accreditation with the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI).

Bryan Hixson (Chairman) moved to Rwanda in 2007 with his wife, Dr. Holly Hixson, and their two daughters who attend KICS. The Hixsons have worked in 11 different countries in short-term projects. Bryan was previously employed as the Director of Educational Technology and Holly as Professor of Chemistry in a university in the U.S. Prior to that, Bryan worked for Eli Lilly and Company (pharma) as a senior training associate. Bryan is serving as the Executive Director-RW of ROC Partners. Holly has served in various ROC education projects as well as teaching at KICS. Bryan has a BfA in Graphic Design and Advertising from Oklahoma State University and a Masters in Educational Technology (Sec. Ed.) from Kansas State University. Tim Brubaker and his wife, Jessica, are parents to four children.  As a family they moved from Chicago, Illinois (USA), to Rwanda in 2004 to work alongside a Rwanda-based ministry called New Creation Ministries, located in Nyarutarama, Kigali.  Having studied Kinyarwanda full-time for two years, Tim’s primary task is to teach in a four year pastoral training school which is focused on discipling pastors who have never finished secondary school.  Alongside full-time teaching, Tim is director of a new degree-level school of Christian leadership and spends quite a bit of time preaching and teaching in churches, seminars and conferences.  His passion is for teaching Scripture and discipling church leaders.  Tim and Jessica are long-term missionaries with WorldVenture, a USA-based mission agency.  Tim was raised in Connecticut, studied at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago (BA) and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL (MDiv).  He is ordained in the Baptist General Conference (also called Converge USA) and a licensed minister in the state of Illinois.

Nancy Lambrechts and husband, Loots are missionaries with Africa Inland Mission. They have come to Rwanda to build up the church through training and discipleship. Nancy and Loots have two children at KICS and one future KICS student. They are currently working on training church leaders how to practically preach and teach Biblical truth in a way that is relevant and application to the Rwandan church. Nancy will be focusing on training and discipling the women on this course. Nancy received a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from George Whitefield College, Cape Town, South Africa and studied Theological and Practical Ministry Training in London.

Eddie Mwunveneza was born in Rwanda in the midst of national turbulence and spent much of his life moving from country to country, living in refugee camps.  Eddie planted and pastored churches in rural Kenya with Life Ministries (a work of Campus Crusade for Christ), and then served as a youth leader at Nairobi Baptist Church before moving to Canada in 1988.  Eddie studied at Pan Africa Christian College and Providence College in Manitoba. In 1993 Eddie was married to Bonita Friesen and completed a Master’s Degree in Intercultural Studies from Canadian Theological Seminary. Eddie and Bonita have four children. Their two older children are at KICS. Prior to returning to Rwanda Eddie and is family spent four years ministering in Ethiopia under SIM International.  Eddie is an ordained pastor sent by Evangelical Free Church of Canada, and founder of CentrePEACE Rwanda with the desire to establish a Center for Peace that provides trauma counseling and self sustainability skills.

Kristin Robinson (Secretary) is married to Dr. Brian Robinson and they have four children at KICS ranging from 1st to 7th grade.  They moved to Rwanda from Tyler, Texas (USA) in August 2009 to work with Africa Transformation Network (ATN), a Rwanda-based Christian NGO in Kicukiro, Kigali.  Brian is a physician and teaches healthcare and sciences here in Rwanda.  Having served in a short-term capacity in several countries, including a ministry to the homeless in the USA, they felt a call to serve in Rwanda full-time.  Kristin has a B.A. in Education from Harding University, and has taught full-time in public schools at multiple grade levels in both the mainstream and special education settings.

Brett Shreck (Vice Chairman) moved to Rwanda in February 2010 with his wife, Keli, and his four children to serve with ROC Partners as the Managing Director and with Christ's Church in Rwanda. The Shreck's two daughters are at KICS. They also have two boys that they adopted in Rwanda in 2008. Brett has a BS from Oklahoma Christian University and has spent the last several years managing his own business. Brett spent a substantial amount of time serving in Eastern Europe in the '80s and '90s. Keli is a Physical Therapist with degrees from Oklahoma Christian University and the University of Oklahoma.
