Kigali International Community School is a Christian, non-profit school, founded in 2006, which offers an educational program from kindergarten through grade 12. While prioritizing placement for children of missionaries and Christian cross-cultural workers, KICS affords children of all nationalities an education similar to that offered by schools in the USA. KICS is a candidate for accreditation with the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI).

Admission into Kigali International Community School is based on KICS Mission, English language ability, KICS administered assessment scores, and previous reports from other schools. The founding mission of KICS is to serve the missionary and Christian cross-cultural communities living in Kigali. Therefore, our admissions are based by priority in the following order: Missionary, Christian Cross Cultural Community (e.g. Christian NGO's, Christian service workers), International Community, and Rwandan Nationals. There is a very high demand for places at KICS, so we encourage students to apply as early as possible, and some applicants will be placed on waiting lists. There is no guarantee of placement or wait listing for any applicant.Please be aware that KICS is an American curriculum education institution. This means it does not educate toward the Rwanda National Exam. Students attending KICS are being educated toward academic requirements in the U.S. or similar university systems. KICS is not affiliated with any specific North American university. Likewise, KICS has no system of direct placement of students into any university. KICS H.S. students are encouraged to take the SAT exam which is a U.S. standard for university assessment.
